What is Sport Climbing?
Sport Climbing, often identified as Indoor Rock Climbing, is a fantastic way to strengthen your body and mind while having fun.
Sport Climbing has 3 disciplines:
- Bouldering: On a wall no higher than 4m, this discipline allows the development of technique and power. Unassisted, the climber must solve a problem to get to the finish in the fewest attempts. There are bonus holds along the way but reaching the “TOP” is the ultimate goal.
- Lead: Allows the climber to conquer great heights of 10-20 meters using attributes of strategy and endurance. The athlete is secured into a harness and tied to a rope which is handled by a belayer on the ground. Climbers clip themselves into strategically placed draws along the route to protect from falling as they progress up the wall. The climb is complete when the athlete reaches the top and clips into the chains at the top. The athlete who reaches the top or who climbs highest wins the route.
- Speed: Climbing a standardized 15m high route, the aim is for the climber to get to the top in the fastest possible time.
